SEOUL, June 3 (Yonhap) -- A-list actor Ha Jung-woo has been summarily indicted on charges of illegal administration of propofol.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office has summarily indicted Ha with a fine of 10 million won at the end of May.

A summary indictment is a procedure in which a summary order is requested through a written hearing without formally bringing it to trial when it is judged that a fine is more appropriate than a prison sentence or imprisonment sentence. The court's decision has yet to be made.

Ha Jung-woo issued a statement, saying, "I was fined for the use of propofol on May 28," adding, "I have told all the facts during the prosecution's investigation, and I humbly accept the punishment."

"I received treatment for my acne scars and whenever I needed to have laser surgeries that caused pain to my skin, I was treated with sleep anesthesia drugs (propofol)," the actor said. "I understand the prosecution judged that the propofol was overused during my treatments from January to September of 2019."

"As an actor who has been loved enough, I reflect on my complacent judgment that I did not think was wrong because I was actually treated, and added, "I sincerely apologize again to everyone who has shown interest and love for me, to all the people who were involved in the work."

"I will continue to be more aware and act carefully in the future," Ha said.

Ha Jung-woo recently confirmed his appearance in the Netflix series "Suriname," directed by Yoon Jong-bin.
