S. Korea holds enforcers' summit with ASEAN, CIS to discuss competition policies
SEOUL, Oct. 29 (Yonhap) -- The antitrust regulator said Tuesday it held a meeting with competition authorities of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) to share policy experiences and discuss ways of stronger cooperation.
The enforcers' summit, the second of its kind, brought dozens of officials from competition authorities in Malaysia, the Philippines, Mongolia, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan together in Seoul, where they shared experiences of devising and enforcing competition-related policies and regulations for market innovation and the rights of consumers, according to South Korea's Fair Trade Commission (FTC).
"Cooperation among competition authorities has become crucial, given the development of new technologies and fast market changes," an FTC official said.
"South Korea will further strengthen its cooperative relationship with foreign counterparts via high-level exchanges."
