Ex-Air Force chief tapped as ambassador to Israel

SEOUL, Jan. 16 (Yonhap) -- A former chief of staff of South Korea's Air Force was appointed as the new ambassador to Israel, the foreign ministry said Friday.

Retired Gen. Park In-ho served as the Air Force chief from 2021-22 under the Moon Jae-in government, his final post before retiring in 2022.

Park, a graduate of the Air Force Academy, spent a considerable time in his career at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, working in the operations and the strategic planning divisions.

The ministry also announced that Kim Sung-min, an emeritus professor of philosophy at Konkuk University, will serve as consul-general in the Chinese city of Shenyang.
