SEOUL, May 14 (Yonhap) -- K-pop female singer CL (real name Lee Chae-rin) will join the anti-hate campaign with local companies to fight against Asian hate, which is spreading rapidly in American society.
CL's agency Timberly Cherry announced that the singer will participate in the "#StopAsianHate" campaign hosted by Lyft, a U.S. car-sharing company, in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May.
In collaboration with a non-profit organizations that supports the Asian community, Lyft offers free and discounted vehicles to those who feel threatened by hate crimes in New York, Los Angeles (LA), and San Francisco.
CL promoted the campaign herself while allowing her name to be used in the campaign's promotion process.
"We all need to feel safe to/from work or when we're just attending to our daily lives," she said in an interview with American magazine, Paper, as part of her campaign.
"I'm hoping we can help offer both a practical solution and peace of mind to the AAPI community," she added. "Hopefully this initiative also reminds those in my community that they are seen, heard, supported for and cared for."
CL posted a post on her social media page containing her interview with Paper and posted a hashtag (#) with the words "StopAsianHate."
In March, when Asian hatred was at its peak, CL also posted a message titled "We stand together," urging everybody to come together as one.
