SEOUL, May 25 (Yonhap) -- K-pop supergroup BTS made a guest appearance on BBC's popular talk show, "The One Show" to talk about its latest single, music, and global fan base, Army.
BTS was interviewed by Ronan Keating, who was a member from the popular Irish boy band Boyzone and introduced the group as "the world's most popular boy band," saying, "It has occupied the world charts and made history by topping the US Billboard main single chart 'Hot 100' with 'Dynamite.'"
Asked to introduce their recently released "Butter," BTS leader RM said, "There's no kind of like a heavy message, it's just a summer dance pop track and it has some very nice dance moves and choreography."
When Keating asked how the group would explain BTS's style, member Suga replied, "The group started out with members who were really into hip hop but as time went by we tried out different genres. It feels like now we've found our style that best fits us regardless of genre, music or language."
For this interview, fans from all over the world sent videos to explain why they were enthusiastic about BTS.
Fans gave a variety of reasons, including "help us share the world through music," "write and produce music ourselves," and "BTS's music transcends language."
Keating went on to discuss what Army(s) mean to BTS and RM said, "We're in the same team and we try to make each other happy and charge each other's batteries. Actually, I think army more stands for like a team, like a crew."
The group also took time to answer questions sent by fans in advance.
One ARMY asked the boys what memories they would like to keep in their minds for a long time, the members chose the 2019 concert at London's iconic soccer stadium, Wembley Stadium.
BTS, along with the United States, is also
popular in Britain, one of the world's two largest pop markets.
BTS topped the official album chart
"Top 100" with "Map of the Soul: Persona" and "Map of
the Soul: 7," and set its own new record with the hit song "Dynamite,"
ranking third on the singles chart.
According to the initial tally of the
official chart on the 23rd, "Butter" also ranked second and is making
its way to the top.
The official chart predicted that Olivia
Rodrigo, who topped the chart nine times with her song "Drivers
License" earlier this year, will beat "Butter" with her new song
"good 4 u."
However, the initial tally of the official charts does not directly lead to official chart rankings. The official chart rankings will be released on the 28th.
