SEOUL, June 16 (Yonhap) -- K-pop boy band Onewe will release their first mini album in two years since their debut, said the band's agency RBW on Wednesday.

Onewe's first mini-album "Planet Nine: Alter Ego," which will be released on the 16th, conveys the concept of a newly discovered "identity" from a distant ninth planet unknown to the solar system.

Since the members of Onewe shared many of their stories within the album, the credits for all seven tracks contained the names of the members.

In a recent written interview, Onewe said, "The tracks inside this album consists of self-written songs by all the members. The process of expressing our story through music allowed us to grow as singers the most."

The title track "Rain To Be" is a song written by guitarist Kanghyun based on his experiences.

"It would always rain whenever our band was carrying out some sort of activity, so it would seem like we had some sort of connection with rain. I was inspired by this thought and wrote the title track, which tells the story about a boy who longs for the rain to come since that was the only time his admirer would show up," said Kanghyun.

Onewe's drummer, Harin said, "Summer rain is one of the most important things in summer. I think 'Rain To Be' will be a song people listen to on rainy days."

The tearing sound of the guitar and drum throughout the song stands out along with the members' passionate performance.

Lead vocalist Yonghoon emphasized, "We wanted to show that a powerful performance song like 'Rain To Be' can also suit well with Onewe's style."

In addition, there are other tracks with various charms such as "AuRoRa," "LOGO," and "A.I." included in the album.

Kanghyun said, "This is an album that portrays another side of Onewe and we have taken on a lot of new challenges in terms of music style and performance."

Vocalist Dongmyeong also expressed his confidence in the album, saying, "We have provided the audience with a wider music spectrum by including various genres and high-quality music."

Since debuting in 2019, ONEWE has released several singles and a full-length album.

Yonghoon added, "The achievement I always want to get is to make our band known to the public. I want our band to be acknowledged for our music as well."

Kanghyun also said, "We always try new challenges without being restricted to certain genres or concepts," adding, "We want to show the public that we can pull off any concept but in ONEWE's own style."
