SEOUL, Sep. 9 (Yonhap) -- Choi Hyun-mi, South Korea’s only and undefeated global boxing champion, will set out to defend her ‘WBA Super Featherweight (58.97 kg)’ title on the 18th.
Choi was a North Korean defector who grew into a global boxing champion. She is also known as the ‘undefeated boxer’ as she has never lost a fight since her pro-debut.
The upcoming match against a Brazilian veteran champion, Simone Da Silva, will take place in Dongducheon Sports Center on the 18th. Fans are paying keen attention to whether the South Korean champion will succeed in securing her title ‘Super Featherweight’ for 9 consecutive years.
“As I haven’t been on the ring for a long time, I myself is looking forward to the upcoming game. I feel confident as I am on superior position in skills than this powerful opponent,” said Choi.
MBN will live-broadcast the game from 1:50 p.m. on the 18th.
