BlackPink Rose's first solo single album becomes a half million seller

SEOUL, April 21 (Yonhap) -- A member of girl group BlackPink, Rose's first solo single album 'R' has exceeded 500,000 cumulative sales and has become a Half Million Seller, according to YG Entertainment on Wednesday. 

Released in a total of three types CD, LP, and KiT, the album recorded a total of 502,447 copies until the previous day.

"It is the first time in about 19 years for a Korean female solo artist to become a half million seller," the agency added.

'R', which was announced on the 12th of last month, recorded pre-orders of more than 500,000 copies during the pre-sale period, predicting early success.

Since then, it recorded more than 440,000 copies in the first week of sales, showing exceptionally high sales for a female solo album.

Meanwhile, Rose was also selected as a new global ambassador of Tiffany, a global jewelry brand.

Rose will start working as a new model for the Tiffany Hardware Collection digital campaign in 2021.

"She has a bold personality, modern style, and influence in line with the identity of the collection," Tiffany stated.
