SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) -- K-pop giant HYBE officially appointed Lee Jae-sang as the new CEO on the 12th, during an extraordinary general shareholders' meeting and board meeting.
At the shareholders' meeting held earlier in the day, the proposal to appoint Lee Jae-sang as an internal director passed as originally planned. In the subsequent board meeting, the decision to replace the CEO was made, citing the resignation of the former CEO, Park Ji-won.
Lee Jae-sang, the new CEO, has a background as a strategy consultant at Monitor Group, head of marketing and advertising at Hyundai Motor Company, and has served as the CIGO (Chief Innovation Growth Officer) and CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) at Big Hit Entertainment (HYBE’s predecessor).
During the shareholders' meeting, CEO Lee addressed the recent issue raised by NewJeans members, who requested the return of former CEO Min Hee-jin by the 25th via a YouTube live session. He stated, "We will respond calmly and in accordance with our principles."
