SEOUL, Sept. 16 (Yonhap) -- The Seoul Arts Center will present a hologram mini concert for Grammy award-winning South Korean soprano Sumi Jo along with media art for a month.
People will be able to enjoy Sumi Jo's performance in the 17-minute mini concert, which will be held at the hologram hall on the first basement floor of the music hall from Sept. 17 to Oct. 20, according to the Seoul Arts Center on Thursday.
The concert was also submitted to the 9th Gwangju Design Biennale, which opened on Sept. 1, and received favorable reviews from visitors.
Sumi Jo, who appears as a hologram will perform "Der Hölle Rache," an aria in the second act of Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute," "If I Leave" from the soundtrack of historical drama "Empress Myeongseong," and three songs of Jacques Offenbach's opera "The Tales of Hoffmann."
"The interior of the exhibition hall combines various media art works displayed in a projection mapping method across the walls. We adopted a 3D sound system to maximize acoustic effects and increase immersion," the Seoul Arts Center explained,
The concert was organized by a collaboration between Seoul Arts Center and media art production company Amberin.
In particular, Roman De Giuli, a world-class media artist from Germany, participated in the work of "Der Hölle Rache," which is also known as an aria sung by the Queen of Night.
The operating hours of the exhibition are from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. except Mondays, but people are able to enter for free after making reservations on the Seoul Arts Center website beforehand. A maximum of 16 people can be booked per each round which will be held for 30 minutes.
