SEOUL, Oct. 4 (Yonhap) -- Concerns over government's weak actions against online illegal ticket sales, which has been increasing after cultural arts performances began to resume ,have been raised.

According to data from Korea Creative Content Agency and Culture, Sports and Tourism collected by Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee Yoo Jung-joo on Tuesday, cases reported on "Online Illegal Ticket Sales Reporting Board" this year until Sept. exceeded 3,594 cases.

This is 10 times more than 359 cases reported in 2020, the year reporting board was first operated, and 4.6 times more than the 785 cases in 2021.

Of the 4,708 reports received over the past three years, 3,568 posts were possible to identify specific concerts.

Most reported concert was singer PSY's "SUMMER SWAG" with 950 cases.

Then followed BTS's "Permission to Dance on Stage" with 465 cases,Na Hoon-a's concert 385 cases, and Lim Young-woong's concert of 256 cases.

It is analyzed that as large-scale concerts resume this year, so-called "Premium tickets," which use macro programs to stock up tickets and sell them at higher prices, are on the rise.

However, among the 4,708 reported cases, None of the cases were requested by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to be investigation by the police.

Rep. Yoo said, "This is because there is no legal basis such as crackdown and punishment for illegal ticket sales,"adding, "It is urgent to improve the system, such as limiting the use of software and resale of tickets for concerts, by amending the Performance Act."

He also said, "Like the 'Good Downloader' campaign, which helped in changing illegal movie downloading practices, the government, industry, fandom, and civil society should all participate to pursue legal sales and guarantee citizens' right to enjoy culture."
