SEOUL, March 30 (Yonhap) -- Group Stray Kids released that it would dream bigger after topping the main album chart in the U.S. Billboard.
“We are overwhelmed with emotions that the EP ‘ODDINARY’ topped the Billboard main two charts at the same time,” said Stray Kids through the agency JYP Entertainment, Wednesday.
The group ranked No.1 on the Billboard 200 dated April 2 with the new EP “ODDINARY,” on March 29 (local time).
This is the third time for a K-pop artist to rank No. 1 on the chart, following BTS and SuperM. It is the thirteenth album to rank No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as a non-English speaking album.
Stray Kids set the record of ranking No. 1 on Billboard 200 for the first time in 4 years, to be exact 1,470 days, since its debut.
The group also topped Artist 100, which ranks the most popular artists across all genres, graded by album and track sales.
Stray Kids emphasized, "We are trying to dream bigger and fulfill greater ambition,” adding, “As we achieved what we thought vaguely, we are becoming more confident about our group and music.”
The group mentioned the world tour concert starting from April 29 in Seoul to Korea·Japan· the US and said, “We want to show our audience the best performance ever.”
JYP Entertainment’s executive producer Park Jin-young also shared his congratulations.
Park said, "So many things go through my mind," after posting a photo of Wonder Girls' performance of “Nobody” on the 2009 Billboard and Stray Kids' record side by side.
"13 years ago when Wonder Girls entered the main Billboard chart we couldn't believe it. And 13 years later finally No.1.on Billboard 200," he wrote.
He said, "Thank you Wonder Girls and Wonderful (fandom) for opening the door and paving the way. And all our artists and employees of team JYP for striving together all this time," adding, "Hope this is just a start!"
Meanwhile, group (G)I-dle entered the Billboard Global chart.
(G)I-dle’s first full album “I NEVER DIE,” ranked No. 58 on Global 200, which ranks the top song based on streaming and sales from more than 200 countries around the world.
