SEOUL, May 30 (Yonhap) -- Music Concert Industry Association of Korea (MCIAK) will launch a campaign to address ongoing problems in the music industry, such as digital chart manipulation and ticket scalping.
The association announced on Friday that it had been selected as the implementing agency for the "Monitoring and Eradication Campaign Against Digital Chart Manipulation and Ticket Scalping," supervised by the Korea Creative Content Agency.
The association plans to strengthen fairness in the popular music industry through activities such as establishing a monitoring system for scalped tickets, managing reporting platforms, and raising public awareness about fair consumer culture.
It also aims to build a collaborative model involving the government, concert organizers, and fan communities, and will conduct participatory campaigns on social media and other online platforms.
MCIAK stated, "In recent years, some agencies and distributors have been accused of manipulating chart rankings and distributing scalped tickets. This project is part of ongoing efforts to correct these unfair practices and create a fair musical environment."
The association is a nonprofit corporation consisting of 40 member companies that organize domestic and international pop music performances, including concerts, festivals, world tours, and performances by international artists.
