SEOUL, April 28 (Yonhap) -- Hollywood masterpieces in the U.S., which failed to open in theaters last year amid the global pandemic crisis, are preparing to be released one after another.

Actress Angelina Jolie's "Those Who Wish Me Dead" and the popular action series "Fast & Furious 9" announced to be released in Korea next month, followed by other movies that have been delayed since last year.

In June, the new film "Wrath of Man" directed by Guy Ritchie, who is known to have directed Disney's live-action film "Aladdin," will be premiered.

Actor Jason Statham, who appeared in "The Transporter" series, will play a father who lost his son to an armed robber who was aiming for a cash truck and seeks revenge to the robber.

"I came up with the idea of a 'cash truck' 10 years ago, and after a long preparation, I was able to complete the script," explained director Guy Ritchie. "Scenes that exceed expectations and intense revenge actions will catch the audience's eyes."

Scarlett Johansson's "Black Widow," which had delayed its release several times last year, finally confirmed its premiere in July.

The movie revolves around the story of Black Widow, a founding member of the Avengers and one of the most talented spies. Black Widow faces the truth of her dark past in order to prevent a huge conspiracy linked to the past and makes the last choice by risking her life.

The film will be released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney Plus on July 9.

Disney also signaled another Marvel movie, "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," to be released in the second half of the year. It is the first story to deal with the reality of Marvel's largest terrorist organization, Ten Rings, which has continued since "Iron Man."

Shang-Chi, who shows a different level of superhuman action, is played by actor Simu Liu from the Canadian sitcom "Kim's Convenience," and other stars including, Awkwafina, Tony Leung Chiu-wai, and Michelle Yeoh are set to appear.

Based on Frank Herbert's 1965 novel, director Denis Villeneuve's SF masterpiece "Dune" is also expected to be released in the second half of the year. The film starring Timothée Chalamet was set to premiere in the second half of last year, but has been pushed back by a series of postponements.

The first musical film "West Side Story," directed by Steven Spielberg, announced to be released in December.

"West Side Story" is an adaptation of the 1957 Broadway musical of the same name made by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein's music, Stephen Sondheim's lyrics, and Jerome Robbin's choreography and production.

In 1957, Leonard Bernstein's music, Steven Sondheim's lyrics, Jerome Robbins' choreography and production, and a Broadway musical of the same name, created by Arthur Lorentz, were made into a film.

The original musical is also an adaptation of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," which reflects New York's social image at the time as well as romance and race issues.

In addition to Spielberg, impressive producers such as Justin Peck (choreographer), who won the 72nd Tony Award, Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner (playwright) and Gustavo Dudamel, a Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor and Grammy Award Best Orchestra Performance winner, seem to stand out.
