SEOUL, Nov. 19 (Yonhap) -- “This album is like a bowl of ‘gobongbab,’ rice stacked high over the bowl. Like that, this album will feel warm and full,” said Minhyuk of MONSTA X.
MONSTA X, attracting more and more Korean and foreign fans as a “rising K-pop star,” has returned to the music scene in about 5 months.
The band introduced their new mini album “No Limit” on an online showcase Friday saying, “This is a production showing our stubborn thoughts and identity of ‘We just go our way.’”
The explanation shows their confidence based on their various experiences since debut in 2015. The band started from Korea and later spread their wings to global stages showing unlimited concepts.
The title song, “Rush Hour” well-illustrates MONSTA X’s spirits.
They compared the complicated world to “rush hour,” a busy and chaotic time or situation. The song delivers a message that, with the power of music and their confidence, the members will stick a ‘flag of victory.’

Like their reputation as a “self-producing-dol” or a “producing-dol” (conjunction of ‘produce’ and ‘idol’), the members have taken part in making the album.
Jooheon, after the previous, ‘GAMBLER,’ was in charge of producing the title song again. I.M and Hyungwon added their composed songs, “Just Love” and “Mercy.”
In particular, the new song’s choreography contains a piece of their eldest member and leader Shownu who is absent to fulfill his military service.
The members explained Shownu’s iconic gesture about eating lamb skewers and said, “We weer inspired from his gesture. Although we are not physically together, we put in his soul.”
The remaining 5 members all said that they will try not to make Shownu’s absence noticeable.
“Normally, the leader starts our chant, but now I’m in charge of that role temporarily. It doesn’t feel like a ‘my thing.’ I think we should just try harder as much as we are not together,” said Minhyuk.
“It is true Shownu took quite an amount of performance and vocal parts. But we tried harder preparing this album and tried cover up his hole. We will perform more dynamically on stage,” said Kihyun.
