SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Yonhap) -- The music video for the K-pop supergroup BTS' chart-topper "Permission to Dance" has surpassed 400 million YouTube views.

The video, released in July 2021, hit the milestone at 4:50 a.m. Monday, according to the group's management agency, Big Hit Music.

The feat was achieved about five months after the video was released this year. BTS now has sixteen music videos with over 400 million views.

"Permission to Dance," co-written with British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran as well as other high-profile producers, is a cheerful dance-pop track aimed at lifting spirits amid the pandemic that is showing no sign of letting up.

BTS' third English single topped the Billboard Hot 100 on July 24 and still remains atop of the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts.

The nearly 5-minute music video features the septet dancing to the song in a carefree and energetic manner while also incorporating international sign language as part of the song's choreography.

BTS has a total of 35 music videos that have garnered more than 100 million views, including "Boy With Love" (1.4 billion views) as well as "DNA" and "Dynamite" (1.3 billion views).
