SEOUL, Dec. 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actress Park So-dam of Oscar-winning Korean film "Parasite" is in recovery after undergoing surgery for thyroid papillary cancer. Park, who stars in the upcoming movie "Special Cargo," announced to be unavailable for the movie's promotional events.
"Actress Park So-dam was diagnosed with thyroid papillary cancer during her regular medical check-ups and has completed the operation," Park's management agency Artist Company said Monday.
"(Park) is very sorry for not being able to be with her fans who have supported her and long-awaited for the release of 'Special Cargo'," Artist Company continued. "The actress is focusing on her recovery so that she will be able to greet everyone in a healthy state."
Thyroid papillary cancer is the most common form of thyroid cancer, with slow progression and has a good treatment prognosis.
"Special Cargo," an action film starring Park, has been confirmed to be released on Jan. 12, 2022.
