SEOUL, July 8 (Yonhap) -- Supergroup BTS will release a new song, "Permission to Dance," co-written by British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran on Friday and appear on NBC's popular talk show "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

BTS will perform "Permission to Dance" and summer number "Butter" at the "Jimmy Fallon Show" on the 13th and 14th (KST), respectively, according to their agency Big Hit Music on Thursday.

In a preview video uploaded on The Tonight Show's twitter account, BTS said, "We're coming back to The Tonight Show, make sure to tune in!"

The seven-piece act performed its hit songs including "IDOL" and "Mikrokosmos" at a royal palace in Seoul as part of the "BTS Week" special hosted on "The Tonight Show." In the week of Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 last year, a prerecorded live performance of BTS on Gyeonghoeru, an iconic pavilion in Gyeongbokgung Palace, was aired for five days.

BTS will release a physical CD containing "Butter" and "Permission to Dance" on Friday. The new Ed Sheeran-penned single is gaining attention on whether it will continue the No.1 streak of "Butter," which topped the Billboard's main single chart for six straight weeks.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Amazon Music, which was released on Thursday, BTS members honestly expressed their thoughts on the band's 8th debut anniversary and future career.

"Seven years symbolizes an invisible limit for many Korean teams--especially for the K-pop groups," explained BTS leader RM. "The eighth debut anniversary is a meaningful day for a [K-pop] group and we were able to maintain the team for more than seven years."

"Whenever we are interviewed, many people ask me, 'Why BTS?' or 'Why are you so popular?' The answer always changes but when you're at the eye of the hurricane, you just can't find out," RM said. "So when the hurricane goes away, maybe we can give the right answer then."

"I think I felt a lot more pressured 3-4 years ago, when we first arrived in the U.S," member Suga said. "Now, if anything, I feel more at ease. Also, it's the nature of life that things don't stay the same. Even for sports stars, once their prime time is over, they need to step down and same goes for pop stars. So rather than desperately trying to hold on to our current status, we are simply focusing on doing our best at the given moment. "
