SEOUL, Dec. 27 (Yonhap) -- Netflix Korea’s new original series “The Silent Sea” is gaining popularity since its premiere and jumped to the number 4 place of the streamer’s top 10 list.
“The Silent Sea” ranked seventh on Netflix's popular TV show rankings on Dec. 25, the day after its release, and rose to No. 4 of the global charts on Dec. 26, according to streaming analytics firm FlixPatrol on Monday.
Set in a future Earth suffering an extreme water shortage, Korea’s first mystery sci-fi thriller is about a special team tasked with finding out the secrets of an abandoned research facility on the moon.
Star Actors Bae Doo-na, Gong Yoo, Kim Sun-young, and Lee Joon, the former member of MBLAQ appeared in the film and Jung Woo-sung participated in the project as an executive producer.
While the series has garnered much attention and continues to rank higher on the global charts, questions arise whether the show will gain the same popularity as the previous Netflix Korean-language series, “Squid Game.”
Meanwhile, the globally successful series “Squid Game” ranked sixth and KBS 2TV’s drama “The King’s Affection” finished with a No.10 on the global charts, on Dec, 26.
