SEOUL February 24 (Yonhap) -- “I don’t think there is a significant boundaries set within the idea of mainstream music. Therefore I personally believe one day people will accept my music as part of the mainstream genre of the music.”

South Korean Rapper Heo Sung-hyun also known as Huh participated in an interview regarding his musical direction on February 20 in Mapo district in Seoul.

Huh, took second place from the hiphop survival program “Show me the Money 11” which aired in 2022. The song he performed during the final round of “Show me the Money 11” featuring Bobby of IKON and Sunwoo Jung-a “Ugly Duckling” became one of the representative tracks from the show.

“Even before the show was on, my goal was to take second place amongst all competitors, since I lost after achieving my overall goal of taking the second place, therefore I have no regrets.” artist chuckled.

Taking second place within the South Korean TV program “Show me the Money” which serves as one of the basics of mainstream hiphop, might be reflected as a huge pressure on the artist, however Heo Sung-hyun successfully used that pressure in order to come up with a great track.

The latest release of the artist, “Midnight Law” include tracks such as “HDYF” which shoots a direct message towards his haters, and unique singing rap styled track “Midnight Law” has been included as a double titles within the album.

Artist Huh, introduced his track “HDYF” by addressing “’HDYF’ features the message, ‘I have taken the second place in Show me the Money, and I plan to soar higher towards the sky. Haters, how do you guys, feel?’”

Moreover, “Midnight Law” is very different from “HDYF” which incorporates strong and unique beat with creative lyric making. “Midnight Law” features calmer melody with message of emotional changes showcased as one goes through a breakup.

“Both of the tracks showcase very different emotions,” adding “Despite of the differences, both of the tracks are the best example of what kind of musical course I would like to take in the near future.” addressed artist Huh.

Artist Huh, who struggled to donate 30 thousand won a month, has succeeded to a point where he is able to create tracks that he truly wants and enjoys, with a big smile on his face, the artist addressed that his goal is to produce and come up with tracks that is true to himself and to the listeners instead of those aimed for statistical success.

“Music and ones true personality needs to match, the song needs to include who the singer is what kind of person he or she is, singers everything needs to be portrayed within the track.” adding “To be honest, I want to continue work on music that truly addresses how I feel and what I think instead of what people would love and feel pleasant listening to.” stated artist Huh throughout the conversation.
