SEOUL, Nov. 4 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl-group STAYC has been appointed as Spotify’s EQUAL Global Artist of Month.
“STAYC has been selected as the ‘Artist of the Month’ for the world’s biggest audio music streaming platform Spotify’s ‘EQUAL Korea’ and ‘EQAUL Global Playlist.’ They are the first Korean artist to be chosen as a global advocate,” said their agency Highup Entertainment Thursday.
Spotify’s EQUAL Campaign collaborates with female artists around the world and aims to support gender equality within the global music industry. The platform is planning to keep up with their support to improve the reality for female music artists and producers and to amplify these women’s voices.
“It is an honor to be appointed as Spotify’s EQUAL Global Artist of Month. We want to introduce to the world the female artists we look up to. First – Girls Generation whom we loved the most and wanted to be like since childhood. As for foreign artists from whom we were most influenced and who want to become are Doja Cat, Bebe Rexha and Little Mix,” the band said.
“We wish for more female artists to step up into this world. Visit Spotify EQUAL Korea and EQUAL Global Playlist to enjoy our songs and other female artists’ great music. We ask for your cheering for the women musicians around the world.”
Meanwhile, the band has been communicating with their fans through various activities after having recently finished their 1st mini-album “STEREOTYPE.”
