Ong Seong-wu Completes Military Service Today: 'Thanks to Patient Fans'

SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Yonhap) -- Singer and actor Ong Seong-wu is set to be discharged from his military service later today.

 

According to his agency, Fantagio, "Ong Seong-wu, who enlisted in the army as an active-duty soldier in April of last year, will be discharged today." The agency also announced that Ong will host a special live broadcast on his official YouTube channel on October 17 to mark the occasion and greet fans upon his return.

 

Through his agency, Ong shared his thoughts on completing his service, saying, "I gained a deep respect for the officers, soldiers, and veterans who dedicated themselves to serving the country. It was a time filled with experiences and emotions I wouldn’t have encountered otherwise."

 

He added, "I found strength thanks to the support of WELO (the official fan club), my family, and friends who patiently waited for me."

 

Ong Seong-wu made his debut in 2017 as a member of the group Wanna One through the show Produce 101 Season 2. He later transitioned into acting, starring in dramas like Moments of 18 (2019), Strong Woman Kang Nam-soon (2023), and the film Life Is Beautiful (2022).
