EXO celebrates 10th anniversary today... to hold "2022 Debut Anniversary Fan Event: EXO" tomorrow

SEOUL, Apr. 8 (Yonhap) --Exo have celebrated their 10th anniversary on the 8th.


In order to commemorate their debut, EXO is holding a "2022 Debut Anniversary Fan Event: EXO" at Jamsil Indoor Stadium, Seoul on Saturday on the 9th at 7 p.m.

Through the platform Beyond LIVE, the site of the event will be broadcasted live online.

Debuted on the 8th of April 2012, EXO, along with their debut song "MAMA" has produced numerous hit songs including "Wolf," "Growl," "Overdose," "CALL ME BABY," "LOVE ME RIGHT," "MONSTER," "LOTTO," "Ko Ko Bop," "Power," "Tempo," "Love Shot," "Obsession" and many more.

Their first full-album "XOXO (Kiss&Hug)", released in 2013, became a million-seller, opening the era of 1 million album sales in South Korea in 12 years.

"DON'T FIGHT THE FEELING," a special album released last year recorded a sale of 1.8 million copies within a week of its release, becoming the sixth million-seller in their career. They are also the first singers among the singers debuted in 2000 to achieve 10 million album sales in South Korea.

EXO also has been active with their unit groups and solo activities.


Along with EXO-CBX, which consists of members Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin and EXO-SC, which consists of members Sehun and Chanyeol, Lay, Chen, Baekhyun, Suho, Kai and D.O have gained popularity with their solo albums with each carrying their own emotions. 

 

EXO, which first debuted with 12 members became a 9-member group with Luhan, Kris, and Tao leaving the group. Lay, the only Chinese member left, have also not been participating in many of the group's activities for his solo career.

Although Lay have participated in Exo's special album, "Don't Fight The Feeling" last year, his contract with SM Entertainment have ended today.

 

Lay also mentioned on his Instagram, "It's time to say goodbye as an employee of SM." He added, "But I will always be the Lay when my members need me."

 

"It is true that Lay's contract with SM Entertainment have ended today" an official from SM Entertainment announced. "Different terms for the contract is being discussed."
