SEOUL, Nov. 2 (Yonhap) -- Actor Christian Lagahit from Philippines, who appeared in Netflix global hit-Korean original series “Squid Game,” revealed having experienced racial discrimination in Korea.
“She (a woman in a village bus) threw a cabbage in my face,” said Lagahit on an interview with YouTube channel “Asian Boss”.
“I was sitting at the back (of a village bus). There was this woman staring at me. And a few minutes passed by and she threw a cabbage in my face.”
“I looked for my eye glasses. When I picked up my eye glasses, they were already broken,” said the actor.
“According to the other lady, she mentioned, '(It was) Because she wants you to step off the bus.'”
When the interviewer asked why, Lagahit answered, “Because I’m not a Korean,”
“The hardest part was no one was there to, at least, help me,” added the actor.
Lagahit who started living in Korea as an English teacher from 2015, appeared in productions such as series “Miss Lee,” film “The Negotiation” and “Space Sweepers.”
Under the interview video were about 2,400 comments including, "As one of South Korean people, I feel so sorry to hear the part about the abnormal treatment he took in bus" and "I am sorry no one stood up with and for you when you were on the bus."
