SEOUL, July 9 (Yonhap) -- Throughout the first half of 2022, K-pop super group BTS and other boy groups raised the atmosphere of K-pop market which has been going through recession due to COVID-19. According to the music industry on Saturday, first girl group to kick off the comeback battle is SM Entertainment’s aespa.

K-pop girl group aespa who debuted with a unique concept of “Metaverse Idol” where they share and interact with their own avatars from another dimension in a unique virtual world, made a comeback with their 2nd mini album “Girls” on Friday.

Quartet girl group aespa who successfully produced 3 consecutive music chart hits, including their debut track “Black Mamba” in 2020, followed by “Next Level” and their track “Savage” is targeting global audiences with their latest album.

According to SM Entertainment “For them to successes in global music market, we have signed a global partnership with Warner Records about aespa’s music content distribution, marketing and promotion.” adding “aespa, who has a unique story line within their own multiverse will join forces with their avatar to fight off the evil ‘Black Mamba’ which will be the finale of the first season of SMCU, SM Cinematic Universe.”

The title track of their 2nd mini album “Girls” is a dance track with impressive bass and synthesizer sound topped by aespa’s confident vocals and rap.
JYP Entertainment’s ITZY will be releasing their mini album “CHECKMATE” on July 15.

After releasing their 1st album “Crazy In Love” in September of 2021 it has been 10 months since they have released music.

Short teaser of ITZ’s title track “SNEAKERS” was uploaded onto ITZY’s official SNS on July 3.

Quintet K-pop girl group ITZY will fire up their first world tour starting in Seoul on Augusts 6 and 7.

In October the ultimate K-pop girl group BLACKPINK is making a comeback as a full team after year and 10 months since they released their 1st album “THE ALBUM”

“BLACKPINK is now at the final stage of recording its new album. they will embark on the filming of a music video within this month and release new songs in August” announced YG Entertainment on Wednesday.

Moreover, YG Entertainment mentioned “We have worked very hard for a very long time to come up with a lot of song that suits BLACKPINK the best.” adding “In order to interact with BLACKPINK’s fans from all over the world, they will go on the biggest world tour a K-pop girl group has yet to host.”

Leading figure of globalizing K-pop and Korean culture Girls' Generation will be returning back on stage with their latest album to celebrate their 15th year anniversary of debut.

It has been over 5 years since Girls' Generation released their 6th album “Holiday Night”.

“It is more meaningful because all 8 of the members have worked together for their upcoming album.” announced SM Entertainment.

Girls' Generation which debuted with “Into The New World” in 2007, lead the craze of skinny jeans with their track “GEE”, and continued on with their fame with their songs “Tell me Your Wish”, “Oh!” and more safely established themselves as a leading figure of K-pop girl group.

Girls' Generation who is about to release their album, showed more natural and relaxed version of themselves through provider JTBC’s reality TV program “Soshi Tamtam” while showing their 15 years of friendship on Wednesday.
