SEOUL, Mar. 17 (Yonhap) -- The cultural festival “KCON,” which is hosted by CJ ENM, will be held in Korea, Japan, and the United States for the first time in 2 years.
CJ ENM announced on Mar. 17 that it will hold the "KCON 2022 Premiere" in Seoul, Tokyo, Japan, and Chicago, U.S., in May, and hold additional KCON in Los Angeles(LA) in August and Tokyo in October.
This is the first offline concert in 2 years since September, 2019.
CJ ENM will upgrade its content by reflecting the contemporary patterns of cultural consumption and trends of Generation Z, which have changed after the pandemic outbreak, and introduce the differentiated programs considering regional features at this year's KCON.
Kim Dong-hyun, the head of CJ ENM's Music Content Division, said, “We will overcome restrictions in time and space and allow more fans to experience KCON under the plan of combining digital and offline from this year, considering the changed trend in the post-pandemic era.”
Since CJ ENM held its first KCON in California in 2012, it has held KCON in 9 cities around the world, including North America, the Middle East, and Europe, attracting more than 1.1 million K-culture fans.
Over the past 2 years, the online event "K-contact" has been held five times due to the spread of COVID-19 and attracted 22.45 million audiences.
