Cartoon 'Taoist Meoteol' to adapt into Korean superhero film in movie·drama

SEOUL, Feb. 9(Yonhap) – S. Korean artist Yi Tu-ho’s cartoon "Taoist Meoteol" will be adapted into a Korean superhero film.

Investment distribution company Megabox Plus M and Dexter Studios, a VFX post-production company, announced on Feb 9 that they will produce a Korean superhero film, which depicts the performance of Meoteol and Taoist Nudeok based on the worldview of the original series of “Taoist Meoteol,” into both movie and drama simultaneously.

"Taoist Meoteol" was produced as a TV animation in 1989 and aired on MBC, and drew attention with 54.9% viewership at the time.

The two companies, which signed a strategic business agreement to produce high-quality contents, announced that they will choose "Taoist Meoteol,” which has received great attention for a long time, as the first project and present interesting contents in both theaters and on TV.

Dexter Studios, which produced the movies "Along with the Gods," "Ashfall," and "Escape from Mogadishu," will make its first drama production with "Taoist Meoteol.” Along with the main production of the drama, it is also in charge of the overall latter part of the work, including the co-production of movies and VFX of movies and dramas.

Dexter Studios said, "We will expand the worldview with a solid story and provide more fun and touching superhero film with our technology added to the original.”
