SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Yonhap) -- South
Korean actors Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung will voice in Netflix’s first original
K-animation film “Necessary for This Star,” the U.S. video streamer said on
Wednesday.
The
film, spearheading Netflix’s venture into Korean animations, portrays a long-distance
romance between space scientist Nan-young and a singer-cum-sound equipment repair
shop owner Jae.
Kim plays
Nan-young, who embarks on a journey to explore Mars in search of traces left by
her mother's failed return to Earth due to an accident. Hong takes on the role
of Jae, who reunites with Nan-young through the turntable, her mother's
heirloom, and cultivates love.
Prior
to Necessary for This Star, Kim and Hong Kyung previously collaborated in the
SBS drama “Ghost.”
Director
Han Ji-won, known for the recent animated film adaptation of Choi Eun-young's
novel “That Summer,” is at the helm.
