HYBE·SM each holds concert for year-end and New Year's Day

SEOUL, Dec. 31 (Yonhap) – HYBE and SM Entertainment, the two major K-pop agencies, will each hold a concert with their singers for the year-end and New Year’s Day.

HYBE opens “2022 Weverse Con [New Era]” at KINTEX Exhibition Center 1 in Goyang-si in the province of Gyeonggi-do on Dec. 31 at 5:30 p.m., according to the music industry on Dec. 31.

The singers from the companies under HYBE, including Seventeen, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN, Fromis9, Lee Hyun, Bumzu, and Dvwn, all participate in the concert and perform the stage.

Justin Bieber also joins the concert online to meet his Korean fans. Bieber belongs to SB project, which is run by HYBE America.

However, BTS, the representative of HYBE, will not participate in the concert since they received a long vacation.

HYBE said, "This concert will be in a hybrid form that crosses over music and conversation, filled with 5 multi-stages and special performances with live bands."

The concert will also feature a tribute stage for “Culture president” Seo Tai-ji, who celebrates his 30th debut anniversary in 2022. BTS from HYBE has previously participated in Seo Tai-ji's 25th debut anniversary concert in 2017 as a guest.

The singers from HYBE will perform the Seo Tai-ji’s hit songs, which will be arranged with their own analysis and characteristics.

On Jan. 1, New Year’s Day, at 1 p.m., the singers from SM Entertainment, including Kangta, BoA, and the rookie aespa, will gather and unveil the SM’s free online concert “SMTOWN LIVE 2022 : SMCU EXPRESS@KWANGYA.”

In the performance, Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Tae-yeon·Hyo-yeon of Girls' Generation, Onew·Key·Min-ho of SHINee, Kai of EXO, Red Velvet, NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, and aespa will be on stage.

Especially, the new song “Step Back” of the new unit of SM’s female artists “GOT the beat” will be revealed for the first time. “GOT the beat” is a 7-member unit based on powerful dance music and performances, which consists of BoA, Tae-yeon and Hyo-yeon of Girls' Generation, Seul-gi and Wendy of Red Velvet, and Winter and Karina of aespa.

In addition, Chang-min of TVXQ will perform "Fever," a song from his new solo album, which will be released next month, for the first time at the concert.

Moreover, there will be a DJ section for DJ Hyo (Hyo-yeon), Raiden, GINJO, Imay, and Hitchhiker.
