SEOUL, June 16 (Yonhap) -- Seohyun from Girls’ Generation will transform into a lucky goddess and return to the small screen.
KBS 2TV hosted an online press conference of the new Wednesday-Thursday drama “Jinxed at First” on Wednesday and announced to air the series on the same day at 9:50 p.m.
The series, based on a popular webtoon with the same title, depicts an encountering of a poor man and the goddess of a fortune hidden by a rich and powerful family.
Seohyun, who takes the role of Seul-bi who can see the future of the person she touches, said, “She is a curious character who doesn’t know the world well since she lived in isolation far from reality because of her abilities.”
“She is random but when it comes to love, she dares to throw everything and go against fate,” she explained.
“Seul-bi is 19 in the show and because she has never been out of the world, I thought about what happened and what kind of emotional changes had occurred until that age," adding, “Seul-bi is a character that matures, and I hope I could be an actress that develops to the viewers.”
Seohyun explained, “The series is like a gift set that expresses family love, friendship, and human greed.”
Na In-woo, who plays Gong Soo-kwang shared his decision to star in the series, “It was interesting to see a man’s fate change and grow after he met a special woman.”
Na explained, "Gong Soo-kwang is an icon of bad luck, but in fact, there was a dark side in the early script," adding, "As the relationship with other characters was important, I tried to raise the tone and act more fun and bright."
Director Yoon Sang-ho said, “It’s definitely a drama that will make you laugh, cry, clap your hands, and spend this summer happily.”
When asked if there was pressure because the drama was based on a popular webtoon, Yoon said, “It was nice because great actors turned the fun original characters into reality,” adding, “The two actors closely resemble the original characters.”
"I tried to faithfully revive the original work, but I think it flew higher and farther than the original by attaching a new engine,” the director said.
