SEOUL, Sept. 17 (Yonhap) -- The second season of popular tvN medical drama "Hospital Playlist," comprised of humanism and teamwork, came to an end amid favorable reviews.
According to data tracker Nielsen Koreanclick on Friday, the ratings of the last episode of "Hospital Playlist 2," which aired at 9 p.m. the previous day, recorded 14.1% in viewership, ending with its best performance. The ratings is also the same as the best record in season 1.
Like any other episode, the finale to the series depicted the last story of five doctors, who have been friends since medical school, doing their best for patients, spending time with loved ones, and healing together as friends.
"Hospital Playlist," directed by Shin Won-ho and written by Lee Woo-jung, returned with a second season in about a year since the first season, which aired between March and May last year, earned favorable reviews for the drama's sense of warmth and optimism.
In season two, the drama focuses on the growing friendship and teamwork between the main characters, affectionate love relationships, various medical episodes that touch the hearts of viewers, and the development of the characters.
However, compared to season one, the craze about the drama was somewhat lower in season two.
As the second season focused more on the relationship between existing main characters, the main point was targeted at character development rather than new storylines, ultimately dividing the audiences' preference. In addition, some episodes which were aimed at matching the love line between two characters were criticized for seeming too intentionally and unnatural.
Furthermore, the scenes where the five doctors ensemble for a band performance, which was well-received for succeeding in creating a smash remix of the song "Aloha" in season 1, did not create a huge sensation in season two.
There are still no concrete plans for the production of season three yet.
Meanwhile, the teamwork of the five main cast members has been greatly loved and audiences are preparing to tune in on television producer Na Young-seok's entertainment show, which will feature all five actors.
