SAN FRANCISCO, Mar. 7 (Yonhap) — Netflix's original drama "Squid Game" won the Art Directors Guild award held on the 5th (local time).
ADG selected “Squid Game” as the winner of “One hour Contemporary Single-Camera Series” category at the 26th Art Directors Guild Award held at the InterContinental LA Downtown Hotel in Los Angeles.
This award is given to art directors and set designers who directed beautiful and artistic backgrounds in movies, TV dramas, advertisements, and music videos. Accordingly, the winner became art director Chae Kyong-sun.
Squid Game was nominated for the category in various sets that appeared in the sixth episode of "Gganbu," and won the award after competing with "The Morning Show," "Succession," "The Handmade’s Tail," and "Yellowstone," starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
The music video of "My Universe," a collaboration song between BTS and pop band Coldplay, was nominated for the "Short Format: Web Series/Movie" category, but failed to win the award as Taylor Swift's "All Too Well" was selected as the winner.
Earlier, art director Lee Ha-jun of the movie “Parasite” was selected as the winner of the best contemporary film at the 24th ADG Awards in 2020.
