Ryu Jun-yeol, Chun Woo-hee's 'The Eight Show' Tops Netflix Non-English Series

SEOUL, May 29 (Yonhap) -- Thriller series "The Eight Show," starring actors Ryu Jun-yeol, Chun Woo-hee, and Park Jung-min, has become the most-watched non-English series on Netflix worldwide.

 

According to Netflix on the 29th, "The Eight Show" recorded 4.8 million views (calculated by dividing total watch time by runtime) from the 20th to the 26th, earning it the top spot in the non-English TV series category.

 

The series ranked in the top 10 in 68 countries, including first place in South Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

 

"The Eight Show" follows the story of eight individuals trapped in a space divided into eight floors, participating in a show where they earn money as time progresses. The characters are portrayed by Ryu Jun-yeol, Chun Woo-hee, Park Jung-min, Lee Yeol-eum, Park Hae-jun, Lee Joo-young, Moon Jeong-hee, and Bae Sung-woo.

 

Directed by Han Jae-rim, known for his films "The Face Reader" (2013), "The King" (2016), and "Emergency Declaration" (2022), this marks his debut in series direction.
