SEOUL, March 31 (Yonhap) -- Supergroup BTS’s agency HYBE is selected as one of the 100 most influential companies by US Magazine Time.
Time said, “HYBE and Bang Si-hyuk are transforming the music business - with a little help from BTS,” adding, “The pop powerhouse," on Thursday.
HYBE has been chosen as one of the 100 most influential companies by Time magazine last year and was also listed this year with companies Apple, Rivian, Pfizer, Disney, TikTok, Balenciaga, and Spotify.
Time revealed the reason behind choosing HYBE and said, “HYBE is not just a record label or a management company.”
Time explained how HYBE has evolved from a small artist incubator to a 360-degree business, in the mode of brands like Disney that own and operate a catalog of intellectual properties (IPs).
Time magazine also cited that HYBE acquired the US-based media company Ithaca Holdings, entered into the NFT business, expanded business in the U.S. and Japan, and ran Weverse, a fan-to-artist social media app, as major examples.
Chairman Bang and BTS members were featured as cover figures of Time magazine, and the cover read, "S.Korea's HYBE is reinventing the music business."
In December 2021, Time magazine selected BTS as the "Entertainer of the Year" and put the superband on the front page, and in 2018, it also featured BTS as the cover model.
