SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) -- "A band that started with worries at our first practice about whether we could even pull it off has now become one loved by fans. The process of the four of us becoming one band through that growth—that’s the identity of our team." (Chodan)

Formed through a YouTube project and having written a “growth narrative” by performing at major rock festivals, the band QWER returns with a more mature synergy.

At the showcase held on Monday in Seodaemun District, Seoul, for their third mini album "In a million noises, I'll be your harmony," QWER stated, "This album completes one chapter of our story. We've returned with an album that transforms dissonance into harmony."

This new album is like a diary, chronicling QWER’s journey from a tear-stained past to sharing the stage with others. It delivers a message of moving forward and becoming someone's harmony, even in a world that may feel like dissonance.

Guitarist Hina described the album as "a promise of an unchanging future with everyone we’re with" and added, "It also encapsulates the four albums we’ve released since our debut."

The album includes six tracks, such as the title track "Dear," "D-Day" with a message of promising eternity to each other, and "Yours Sincerely," which all members helped write and compose.

"Dear" is a song about the resolve to endure and live well even when faced with overwhelming sadness. The members deliver delicate emotions through rhythmic performances and expressive vocals.

Drummer Chodan explained, "From the title, people might think it’s a ballad, but the instrumental is powerful and upbeat. At the same time, there’s a lyrical and wistful element to it. The song carries a message of leaving behind tearful days and vowing not to cry anymore."

QWER, created by popular YouTuber Kim Gyeran, made a splash with their October 2023 debut. Since then, they've quickly established themselves with hits like "Overthinking Addiction" and "My Name Is Clear."

They performed at the major domestic music festival Pentaport Rock Festival last year, and held fan concerts earlier this year in Tokyo, Osaka, and Taipei.

Lead vocalist Siyeon, formerly of the Japanese girl group NMB48, said it was a special experience to invite her parents to the Osaka concert. "When I was active in Japan before, conditions weren’t good, so I never got to invite them. I’m proud that I could now show them a more mature and confident version of myself on stage."

The members said they feel themselves improving with every performance and are practicing with the mindset of achieving even higher quality. They also shared their ambition to one day perform at the renowned U.S. music festival Coachella.

Bassist Magenta said, "I've been practicing so much that my left thumbprint has worn down and my phone doesn’t recognize my fingerprint anymore. But as the saying goes, dream big. If we're invited, I’d love to share the stage with other artists at Coachella."

"I want us to make music that people instantly recognize as QWER's the moment they hear it. We aim to become a global band that reaches audiences around the world." (Hina)
