Seoul, Oct. 10 -- DAY6, a leading force in the surge of band music in the South Korean music scene, has surpassed 340 million streams on Melon this year alone, highlighting the ongoing 'band boom' in the industry.

Music platform Melon revealed these figures through its "Data Lab," showcasing the impressive performances of bands like DAY6, Silica Gel, and Oasis, both domestically and internationally.

DAY6 has gained significant momentum this year, with their tracks "You Were Beautiful" and "Time of Our Life" re-entering the charts, propelling the band to the forefront of the current band music trend. The group's albums Fourever and Band Aid, released this year, have each surpassed one million streams. With their growing popularity, DAY6 has now exceeded 1 billion total streams on Melon, joining the platform's "Billions Club."

Another band gaining attention is the indie group Silica Gel, which has shown remarkable growth. Their performance during the Melon Music Awards' opening stage last December led to a 164.5% increase in streams compared to the previous month. The band's streaming numbers from January to September this year have jumped 209.6% compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, QWER, marketed as a "growth-oriented girl band," has also made a mark on the charts. Their single "Dilemma Addict," released on April 1, debuted at No. 215 on Melon's daily chart, but quickly climbed to a peak position of No. 4 on April 25. The track remained in the top 10 of the daily chart until September 1, indicating sustained popularity.

Veteran band Jannabi continues to maintain their popularity with the hit song "For Lovers Who Hesitate." Originally released in 2019, the track ranked 8th on Melon's annual chart that year and made a resurgence last year, reaching 58th on the chart.

The recent reunion of British band Oasis after 15 years also drew significant interest. Following their announcement on August 28, streaming of Oasis' songs on Melon surged by 100.3% compared to the previous day. Additionally, their September streaming figures increased by 67.4% compared to the same period last year, indicating a strong interest among Melon users.

These statistics reflect the growing influence and popularity of band music in the current music scene, with both domestic and international acts contributing to the trend.
