Dec. 19 (Yonhap) -- K-pop sensation BTS has been nominated for the second consecutive year at the BRIT Awards, the most prestigious popular music awards ceremony in the UK.
The seven-piece act was nominated for the international group category, according to the official website of the Brit Awards, on Dec.19.
BTS will be competing for the trophy with ABBA, which has released a new album in the last 40 years, and Silk Sonic, an American R&B super duo composed of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak.
The awards ceremony will be held on February 8, 2022 (local time) at O2 Arena in London, England.
This is the second time the superband has been nominated for the awards.
BTS was nominated for the international group category for the first time as a Korean singer at the 2021 Brit Awards but failed to win. The trophy went to the American trio sister band Haim at the awards ceremony held in May.
Launched in 1977, the Brit Awards is a popular music award associated with the British Phonographic Industry.
Since the late 1980s, the international division has been established to award artists working in various countries.
