SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) -- TV Chosun’s “Mister Trot: The Call Center of love,” is the most-streamed Korean variety show in 2021.
The show ranked first with a record of 701 million views according to SMR, which distributes on-demand videos of major broadcasters to online platforms including NAVER and YouTube.
SBS’s “Running Man” ranked second with 470 million views and KBS’s “The Return of Superman” was placed third with 290 million views.
MBC, the multimedia broadcaster, stood out with its four programs in the top 10, including “Reveal My Star’s life: The Manager” as the 4th place with 240 million views. “Radio Star” ranked sixth with 210 million, “I live alone” ranked 7th with 210 million, and “Hangout with Yoo” took 8th place with 190 million views.
Mnet’s dance survival program, “Street Woman Fighter,” which caused a K-dance sensation, ranked 10th place among the biggest TV entertainment shows with 160 million views.
When the programs are divided into trot TV shows and regular TV shows, "Mister Trot: The Call Center of Love,' which ended in September, topped the charts of trot TV shows.
In the ten most-viewed clips of Mr. Trot, seven are clips of Lim Young Woong, who shares an enormous fandom after winning the program.
SG Wannabe's clip in "Hangout with Yoo," was the most-streamed video in regular TV shows. The group's hit song medley was a hit with 7.44 million views.
The next most-streamed video which surpassed 7.37 million views, was a clip of Hong Hyu-hee in “Reveal My Star’s life: The Manager” showing her mukbang skills with her brother-in-law. The third place went to BTS's clip in tvN's "You Quiz on the Block."
