SEOUL, Apr. 28 (Yonhap) – “I saw the comment regarding this album, saying, ‘Isn’t it a lineup for a festival?’ Just like it said, I hope people listening to my songs feel the mood of the festival.”
Soyou, who has become a “collaboration goddess” after releasing hit songs, including “Some” and “Officially missing you, too,” since her solo debut, showed off her diverse charms with her first mini album filled with various stories under the theme of “day.”
The singer introduced the mini album “Day & Night” at a press conference held at CGV Cheongdam Cinecity in Seoul on Apr. 27, “I tried to fill this album with my own style of diverse music.”
It is Soyou’s first album in about a year and a month since the single “Good Night MY LOVE,” which was dropped in March, 2021. It is also the singer’s first release since she moved to the current agency.
Just like the meaning of the title “Day & Night,” the album displays a day from the dawn, when the sun rises, to the noon and night. It depicts the emotions people feel during their daily lives with the singer’s own unique vocals.
The double title songs “Some 2” and “Business” both portray the story of men and women.
“Some 2,” which is in collaboration with Jung Yong-hwa, is a sequel to the mega-hit song “Some” released in 2014, and it depicts the pure mind of wanting to be more honest to each other without hiding one’s feelings.

Soyou said in terms of the reason for releasing the song with the same title, "In fact, there were several candidates for the title," adding, "It may be a double-edged sword, but I would be happy if you could listen to the song as much as 'Some' was loved."
While "Some 2" symbolizes the day, "Business" is a song that contains the mood of the night. The singer expressed affectionate feelings of men and women who met while working with S. Korean rapper BE’O.
The album also contains songs “Heart(translated)” and “Tree,” which were each featured by singers Jukjae an DAVII. Soyou participated in writing lyrics and composing the song “Tree” and showed her wish to shed light on everybody with colorful lights like the tree that brightens up the world with its green light.
Soyou said, "I was worried when working on the album, but I wanted to sing what I do best.”
"When I counted the number of singers in collaboration so far, there were a total of 42 people, including the songs performed in the program," adding, "I was thinking about whether I should only release solo songs or collaborative songs, but I wanted to play what many people like."
When Soyou was asked to pick a singer she wants to collaborate with in the future, she said, "It's the most difficult question," adding, "There are many people I want to work with, but I've never done it with a female artist yet. I want to work together."
Soyou said it was very meaningful to meet her fans at a solo concert that was recently held.
She said, “I really wanted to hold a concert at a small theater so I think I was so happy that I almost lost my ‘mind’ on the second day of the concert. It was hard to dance since the theater was not that big but Sistar members gladly danced with me together.”
Soyou will not star in any music program with this album.
“I hope you relate to the song when listening to the lyrics. I changed the style of my vocals for every song, so please feel how it is different for each song where I worked with singers BE’O, Jukjae, Jung Yong-hwa, and DAVII.
