SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Yonhap) -- Tampa Bay Rays' first baseman Choi Ji-man has landed back on the injured list (IL) for the third time this season.
The Rays announced that it has put Choi on the 10-day IL on Wednesday (local time) with a left hamstring strain. The move is retroactive to Tuesday.
Choi had first experienced a left hamstring tightness during the game against the Boston Red Sox on Aug. 11.
Choi then exited Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox after his hamstring tightness was classified as a strain.
After recording a hit in the first inning, Choi had appeared to have tweaked his hamstring and was replaced ahead of defense in the second inning.
After checking Choi's physical condition, the Rays decided to list the baseman on the IL.
This is will be the third time for Choi to be on the IL this season. He had previously missed a number of games due to a knee surgery ahead of the opening of this season and then sidelined again with a left groin strain in June.
Previously, Choi, who played his first game on May 17, had been activated from the IL, following an 11-day stint with a groin injury.
This season, Choi has batting average of 0.250, nine home runs, and 38 RBIs in 64 games.
