'The Pirates' tops S. Korean box office for 2 weeks

SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Yonhap) -- "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure," has topped the South Korean box office for two weeks as a list of new movies delayed and the number of audiences decreased after the New Year holiday. 

The fantasy action blockbuster attracted a combined 164,000 moviegoers (accounting for 41.8% sales) during the weekends (4~6th), according to the data by the Korean Film Council, Monday.

The movie reached a total of 1,086,000 audiences since its release.

The political drama "Kingmaker" ranked No. 2 in the box office with 108,000 viewers (27.7% sales). The movie has a total of 616,000 viewers since its release. 

Marvel's superhero movie "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ranked No. 3 with 45,000 viewers (10.1%) and recorded a total of 7,499,000 cumulative audiences.

The musical animated film "Sing 2" had 45,000 tickets (7.5%) sold over the period and “Hello Jadoo : The Secret of Jeju Island” garnered 18,000 audiences (4.2%).

Last week, the ranking of the New Year holidays remained the same, without new movies entering the box office. A total of 404,000 people went to theaters over the period, reduced to 40% than the previous week (693,000).
