SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Yonhap) -- The film “The Apartment with Two Women,” directed by Kim Se-in, received an official invitation from the Berlin International Film Festival, announced the film company FINECUT, on Thursday.
The upcoming film will screen in the non-competitive Panorama section at the Berlin International Film Festival.
“The Apartment with Two Women,” which questions the dysfunctional mother and daughter relationship, is the graduation film directed by Kim at the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA).
The movie took home this year’s Busan International Film Festival awards including the New Currents Competition Award, Watcha Award, NETPAC Award, and the Audience Award. Im Jee-ho, who plays the daughter in the film, won the Actress of the Year award.
Cristina Nord, the head of the Berlinale Forum says, “The mother and daughter relationship created in Kim's world was portrayed very specifically," and adds, “It was breathtaking to watch the amazing acting of two leading actors.”
"Korean Academy of Film Arts, has created a stable environment where I can only focus on the film from the scenario writing process to post-production," said the director.
"It is fascinating to share this good news to actors, staff, and the KAFA," added Kim.
The 72nd Berlin International Film Festival is scheduled to open on February 20, 2022.
