SEOUL, Apr. 26 (Yonhap) – “I actually had a lot of regrets while performing as a group. As I lived such a busy life, it was even hard to carry out what I was given. I didn’t want to regret this time.”

“Baby Soul,” who performed as a leader and main vocal of K-pop girl group Lovelyz, will return with her birth name on Apr. 26.

Lee, who is opening her second act as a singer under her real name Lee Su-jeong, named the first mini album “My Name.”

Lee said during a recent meeting with the media ahead of the release of the new album, “I hope my real story and real feelings can sincerely touch and comfort many people.”

This album is meaningful as it is the first album of Lee, who debuted as Lovelyz in 2014, in eight years.

Lee showed her confidence, “As it is an album with my name on it, I tried to do more than I could do every moment,” adding “It’s an album with 100 points out of 100 without any regrets.”

The singer said, “While Lovelyz’s Baby Soul played a lot of emotional, sentimental, and girlish music, solo artist Lee Su-jeong will show diverse and intense songs.”

The album contains a total of six songs, including the title song “Walking Through The Moon,” “Breakup(translated),” and “Temperature(translated).” Lee has written lyrics for all songs except the intro “My Name.”

Lee revealed, “I’ve only written lyrics for rap so far so it was my first time writing lyrics for the song and it was very difficult,” adding, “In particular, when I wrote the song ‘Cosmos,’ the lyrics did not come up to my mind so I wrote it again four times.”

Lee said in terms of performing as Lovelyz for seven years, “Lovelyz was such a special experience and valuable memory that I will never experience again,” adding, “Our members get along so well while staying by each other’s side.”

Then she added, “Members said ‘It’s so cool’ and ‘I like the song’ after hearing the album.”

Lee held surprise busking performances in Sinchon, Seoul, on Apr. 24 and unveiled the tracks of her album for the first time. It is something that she never thought would happen when performing as a group.

The singer will hold a solo concert for sixteen times from May 5 to 29 and meet her fans.

Lee said, “Since I’m the person who plays music with the song, I enjoy completing the music by making collaborations with the band that plays instruments,” adding, “I’m preparing to make people feel fresh and new even if they watch all sixteen concerts.

In order to focus on the performances, Lee will not star in any music program for a while.

“When listening to the song, I hope it feels like a new artist rather than a person ‘Lee Su-jeong.’ I made a comeback with nice songs to pay back for the trust of my fans that have waited for a long time, so please look forward to it.”
