SEOUL April 22 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actors Kang Ha-neul and Yeom Hye-ran will team up in a Netflix thriller film centered around apartment noise issues.

Netflix announced on the 22nd that it will produce the film "84 Square Meters," directed by Kim Tae-jun, and revealed the casting lineup.

The film, titled after the size of a 32-square-meter apartment, depicts the story of Woo-seong, a office worker in his 30s who successfully buys his own home but is plagued by mysterious apartment noise.

Kang Ha-neul, who starred in last year's hit romantic comedy "30 Days," will play the protagonist Woo-seong, portraying a character who undergoes extreme emotional changes due to the stress inflicted by the noise.

Yeom Hye-ran, known for her performances in Netflix dramas such as "The Glory" and "Mask Girl," as well as the film "Citizen of a Kind" (2023), has been cast as Eun-hwa, the representative of apartment residents. Seo Hyun-woo will join as Jin-ho, an apartment resident investigating the cause of the noise alongside Woo-seong.

Director Kim Tae-jun gained acclaim for his debut feature film "Unlocked" (2023), which created horror and thrills against the backdrop of everyday time and space. "84 Square Meters" (literal translation) is also set to be released on Netflix.
