SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Yonhap) -- INI, a boy group that debuted through a reality audition TV show "Produce 101 Japan," has been nominated for the New Artist Award at the Japan Record Awards, according to entertainment giant CJ ENM on Sunday.

The Japan Record Awards, which began in 1959 and became an annual major music award ceremony, will mark its 63rd anniversary this year. The award show will be broadcast live on TBS Japan on Dec. 30.

"In less than a month since its debut, INI has topped the Oricon daily and weekly charts with its debut single and sold out 24,000 tickets for its fan meetings," CJ ENM said.

CJ ENM has established a joint venture called "Lapone Entertainment" with Yoshimoto Kogyo, a major Japanese entertainment conglomerate, to manage boy group INI.

"The performances of INI and JO1 (a Japanese rookie boy band also formed through "Produce 101 Japan), which recently debuted, is a representative success story through the combination of K-pop content production skills and solid J-pop infrastructure," Lim Hee-seok, head of CJ ENM's music global business team, said.
