SEOUL, Jan. 7 (Yonhap) – Although “The Policeman’s Lineage,” the first Korean film in 2022, and “Sing 2,” a musical animation where Hollywood stars made voice appearance, have been released, they could not break the record of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in viewers.

It draws attention as to whether "Spider-Man," which has been breaking the record of box office hit since the pandemic of COVID-19, will be able to beat the new films and top the weekend box office for 4 weeks in a row.

“The Policeman’s Lineage,” which ranked No.1 in the box office as soon as it was released on Jan. 5, according to Korean Film Council KOBIS on Jan. 7, stepped down to the second place(45,000 viewers, sales market share 29.3%) the next day.

“Spider-Man,” which topped the box office for 3 weeks, went back to the first place(47,000 viewers, 33.3%) in one day. “Sing 2,” which was released with “The Policeman’s Lineage,” maintained No.3 (33,000 viewers, 20.3%).

The live ticket sales for “Spider-Man” were the highest with 31% on Friday morning. It is followed by “Sing 2” with 21% and “The Policeman’s Lineage” in third place with 17.9%.

“The Policeman’s Lineage,” where the stars in the movie appeared on the stage on the day of its release, will also have Cho Jin-woong and Kwon Yul visit the theater to meet the audience this weekend.
