SEOUL, Sept. 19 (Yonhap) -- Yeonjun of Tomorrow X Together (TXT) is set to release his first solo mixtape GGUM at 6 p.m. on the 19th, according to his agency, BigHit Music.
GGUM is a hip-hop track with an electro sound, where Yeonjun expresses his confidence and ambition on stage through a metaphor with chewing gum.
Yeonjun was heavily involved in the production process, contributing to the concept, lyrics, and performance design, infusing his personal style into the song. The chorus features the bold and simple lyrics "chewing gum," with vocals modulated through electronic effects to add a fresh twist.
The performance of GGUM includes a signature dance move that mimics the action of chewing gum. Yeonjun shared his excitement, stating, "I've dreamt of this moment for a long time. While there's pressure, I'm more thrilled to showcase my unique style and strengths that I couldn't fully express during team activities."
Yeonjun also revealed a behind-the-scenes story from the music video shoot: "True to the song's title, I ended up chewing almost 50 pieces of gum. There's a scene where I spit water, and I nailed it in one take, which got the OK signal from the director."
