SEOUL, Feb. 3 (Yonhap) -- Kim Jae-hwan from K-pop group Wanna One tested positive for the coronavirus, on Wednesday afternoon, as the virus continues to hit the local music scene.
Kim received a positive result in the self-test kit and was confirmed with COVID-19 in the PCR test, according to Swing Entertainment.
Kim was found to have completed the second shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
"As artists and related staff took PCR tests on Feb. 1~2, some were confirmed in the afternoon,” explained the agency.
Kim’s concert, which was scheduled to be held at Seongnam Arts Center in Gyeonggi Province this month, will also be canceled.
The entertainment said, "The Seongnam concert, which was scheduled to be held on Feb. 5 and 6 is canceled," adding, "We will quickly organize the refund related to the cancellation of the concert and notify in detail later."
“It's hard to determine the exact time of infection so we recommend fans who participated in the 'Makestar Face-to-face Fan Signing Event' held on Jan. 29 to get tested,” explained the agency.
Kim has canceled all his upcoming plans.
"We will take all necessary measures to restore the health of our artists and prevent the spread by prioritizing the safety of artists and staff,” said the agency.
With cases pouring out every day due to the Omicron variant, the music industry is also on alert.
Members from iKON, WINNER, THE BOYZ, WEi, TREASURE, Kep1er, VIVIZ, DRIPPIN, and Jimin from BTS have tested positive for COVID-19 after Jan. 20.
