SEOUL, Dec. 19 (Yonhap) -- Seo Dong-wook, a former member of the iconic 1990s duo Exhibition and deputy head of Morgan Stanley Private Equity, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 50.

Seo, along with singer-songwriter Kim Dong-ryul, co-founded Exhibition after meeting as classmates at Whimoon High School and Yonsei University. The duo rose to fame in 1993 when they won the grand prize at the MBC College Song Festival with their song In a Dream.

Exhibition made their official debut in 1994 and released three albums before disbanding in 1997. They delivered timeless hits such as Etude of Memory, Journey, Stranger, Bird, Drunken Truth, Graduation, and Promise.

At the time of their disbandment, the duo expressed a desire to explore other opportunities they felt they had missed due to their early start in the music industry. "We want to return to school, focus on our studies, and plan for our future while experiencing things we've never tried before," they stated.

After parting ways, Kim Dong-ryul continued his music career, forming the duo Carnival with Lee Juck. Seo Dong-wook pursued a career in business, working at firms like McKinsey & Company, Doosan Group, Alvarez & Marsal, and Morgan Stanley Private Equity, where he established himself as a prominent corporate executive.

In 2008, Seo attended one of Kim Dong-ryul's solo concerts, publicly expressing pride in his former partner's achievements and showcasing their enduring friendship.

The funeral hall is located at Special Room 1 of the Shinchon Severance Hospital Funeral Home in Seoul. The funeral service will take place on Dec. 20 at 11:40 a.m.
