S. Korea holds talks with Quebec's int'l minister to discuss cooperation in defense

SEOUL, Feb. 6 (Yonhap) -- Senior officials of South Korea and the Canadian province of Quebec met in Seoul on Friday to discuss ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, the foreign ministry said.

Chung Eui-hae, deputy minister for political affairs, and Christopher Skeete, Quebec's minister of international relations, took part in the talks, according to the ministry.

During the meeting, Chung called for Quebec's greater attention to the potential expansion of bilateral cooperation in the defense sector, citing Seoul's bid for Canada's submarine procurement project.

Skeete expressed hopes for further collaboration with Korean companies in the province's strategic industries, including artificial intelligence, aerospace and critical minerals.
